BIDDING FAREWELL TO PETER JOSEPH MUISE

July 8, 2022 By NBHSPN

The New Bedford Continuum of Care lost one of its own family Wednesday evening, July 6, 2022.  Peter Muise, former President of First Citizen’s Federal Credit Union and longtime member of the HSPN, passed away.

Peter’s passion, advocacy and tenacity in working on behalf of those in greatest need will always be remembered and missed.  His list of accomplishments within the broader community are far-reaching but the breadth of his efforts  just within the HSPN have also been numerous.  Peter was currently serving on the HSPN Executive Committee and its Performance Review Committee (PRC) and was inseparable from the efforts to ensure a cold weather overflow shelter each winter and the creation and continuance of the annual NB Connect event each fall.  He worked tirelessly in launching Rise Up for Homes and ensuring funds were raised through Rise Up for the work of the HSPN.

Peter was a proud recipient of the Sister Rose Award that recognized his legacy of achievement, dedication and compassion in his personal and professional life in living out the mission of the HSPN rooted in the belief that every person is entitled to live in dignity.

For all of us who knew Peter, were privileged to share a bit of this world with him, and bore witness to his grit, good humor, dedication and insight–this is incredibly sad.

We share in a collective grief over this loss and a profound joy having benefited from witnessing a life well-lived in service of others.
